When considering a garden design, hard landscaping gives structure and aesthetic function, which is an essential framework to create stunning planting schemes that form the backbone of any garden. But I think it is the creative use of garden art that can really accentuate and personalise a design. Using works of art in the garden provides a foil for the organic arrangements. Art in the garden not only puts emphasis on the differences between nature and composition, but essentially it beautifully marries the two aspects.
Working with Brent from Arthur Francis sculpture is a testimony to how exciting and successful that process can be. From working together on a design concept – fuelling each other’s creativity – to the installation on site is a very rewarding part of my garden design process. The form, texture, size and finish of Brent’s bespoke sculptures and statement planters result in a perfect marriage of nature and composition.
