Peonies are tough, resilient plants, that cope well with our cold British winters. In fact if they do not get frosts over the winter the chance of flowering is greatly reduced. Peonies can be planted now and through to Spring as long as the ground is not frozen at the time of planting.
Peonies love a sunny spot planted in rich soil. Most will tolerate clay but as long as their feet aren’t permanently wet. Flowering between May to July, Peonies make a beautiful addition to a mixed border.
